Well unlike the same dial in a Senator case... this is in fact the picture!
Is this the real Spencer then folks?
It looks quite a bit different than the other 1945 Spencer of Marks in our database. This is more of a curved President type case rather than the Senator type case.
Notice the protective cover metal flap on the bottom. This is my second watch to have that... the other is that mint Senator I have.
Found as is.... just a little brasso and a polishing cloth got it looking like that.

So you are suggesting that the Bulova Spencer had two design transition years on Spencer cases, 1945 above & this one below in 1943. It's is just common cence to me that Bulova would not have two entirely different cases designs with the same name, in any year. According to the ads these are two differnt named watches. Both the 1943 Spencer & 1945 Spencer, and 1943 Senator 1945 Senator case designs are supported by ads. For the sake of brevity I suggest discussion be limited to case design only. Dials & hands have already been discussed. Since Fifth and I are deadlocked on the case design issue, lets have a vote from other members.
My vote is for two distinctly different case designs having two different names, Spencer and Senator.
1943 Spencer 1943 Senator
In reply to Fifth So you are by Wayne Hanley
Hrmmm... that's a pretty good argument Wayne.
If in fact the two cases with the exploding dails do span multiple years.... and it seems that they do as Wayne has point out here. We've seen examples of both cases with that dial in '43 models... and now '45 models. Then I think it would be safe to say that they are seperate model watches. I too agree the "transition" of the same model name to different cases wouldn't have spanned several years.
Good catch Wayne.
Though now think of this.... we've NOT seen an ad ANYWHERE that would show a Senator in this exploding dial... at all.... anywhere... at all.. heh.
We do know in fact there is a Radio City model out there takes the same crystal... and maybe that is in fact the Senator Case/w the Explosion dial. Not the Sentor... not the Spencer.... (Both have ads showing the names) but this could in fact be the elusive Radio City?
So maybe something like this?
SPENCER RADIO CITY SENATOR
Maybe this is it gents?
