I was wondering about the distinction between a solid 18Kt gold case and a steel case which is plated. Would is still technically be a steel case at its core?

Usually the ads say plated if it is plated and I believe the core is always brass.

So if the watch is all correct (I'm not 100% convinced it is), then it appears this catalog does not list this particular combination.

Is it possible that the front bezel is solid gold?

If the case or bezel was solid gold the back would state that.

Geoff, my thinking is that the case back is not original to the watch, so might not say 14K.

We have a watch with the case back reported as being stamped N0 (1970) with a movement stamped N2 (1972)....thus my questioning of originality.
