Worn, Bulova watch. Inside case 10k rolled gold plated bezel, stainless back, New York. Case back 3794797 Bulova (possibly L1). Watch movement 10BRC, which I have not seen, Bulova watch co. 17 jewels. Round, self winding

Duo-Wind being bi-directional is something that actually never occured to me, but makes sense.

thegoi31 does your movement seem to wind in both directions?

At this time, I can't give you a definite answer as the watch is broken. This is how I ended up receiving it

Based on prior discussions regarding the movement 11AAC - 'DUO-WIND'   vs   10BRC - 'THAYER'  .  Since this watch has a 10BRC movement and self winding on the dial, I am going with 1951 Bulova Thayer.

Do the ads state bi-directional? Wondering if duo-wind is meant for self-winding plus manual winding.

All selfwinding movements can be manually wound.  My watchmaker, a Bulova graduate, recommends a crank of the crown before wearing an auto to prime the mainspring. 

The Bulova 11AAC is a re-badged Felsa Bidynator (761 I believe)  The Felsa Bidynator was the first bi-directionally winding automatic.  https://chronopedia.club/Bidynator

Several Seiko automatic movements do not allow for manual winding. There may be others.

So ChatGPT (for what that is worth) agrees with Ken, so I think we need to confirm the bi-directional winding notion.

Google OpenAI states "A watch with a duo-wind mechanism can be wound in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. Most watches have a two-way winding mechanism, but some have different specifications."
