I have seen this case before but not the dial color.   Can you confirm the color of the dial?   I believe there was a silver and a gilt dial.   If this is more of a gold dial then I might have a match to it.

Hello JimDon5822,

It is as shown in the (poor) photo, very dark silver/grey, shiny gunmetal.  Certainly not gold.

Thanks for your comments.

I'm finding a case match to the Sea King "CW", but not a dial match. Still looking.

This case is so distinct it submit it must be the Sea King CX or CW. I haven't found (yet?) another example of this case design. I agree that the dial doesn't match but am curious to know what movement it has. Compare to Bob's Watch

I don't think it will be the CX or CW variant but matches the 'SEA KING'

*the dial is the 'variant' in the CX vs the CW

The subject dial matches neither.

Thanks for all the comments, looks like the only way is to get at the movement.  As I am a complete novice in watchmaking, how could I best access the movement, and are there any special tools I need (can purchase)?  I am quite willing to have a go at accessing the movement, but obviously do not want to do any damage...

Thanks again.

There are tools you can buy to help, but you may be able to open the case back with just your fingernails. If you look at the back you will see the silver metal ring with cutouts. Try putting the fingernail from each thumb into those cutouts and turning counter clockwise.

I am comfortable with a Sea King designation with no variant.
