Watch Description

Rectangle, sort of old school TV shaped, case that is yellow gold tone in color with stainless back.  Measures about 33.7 mm wide and about 28mm long without the crown.  Matching yellow gold tone mesh band that measures 21.6 mm wide where it attaches to the watch.  Bulova logo on crown and again on the band clasp.  Manual wind movement and case are both dated N8.  Black background dial with 2 diamonds at the 12 position and raised, white linear indices at all others.  I think this one is a match for the attached partial 1979 add found on the site, but not model name or number is on it.

This one was posted in an online sale as a ladies watch.  Pics were not that great and there was nothing to use for scale, but I didn't think the proportions looked right for a womens watch.  Price was pretty attractive and listing was older so I made an offer and bought it.  Cleaned up nicely and is keeping decent time as received.  One small mark on upper right of dial and some wear to the gold tone on the clasp, but other than that it looks great.  Lately I've been admiring these 70's mesh band watches and am very happy to have this one.

As always, thanks for any info!

That is a real beauty! After quite a search, I found this text in the 1977-79 linebook. Listing for new model release dated June 1, 1978. I think this might be a good candidate. "Hook lock bracelet" would logically be a mesh. Model number is quite close to Geneva Collection watches previously identified..

That description definately matches the watch.  "Diamond Dial" and $150.00 retail price match the add.  I think you nailed it.

Thanks so much for your time looking it up!

You are most welcome. There were multiple text references like this (no photo) in the linebook widely scattered by date rather than style/type, referring to diamond dials. This one was the only one  that matched diamond count, dial  and case color, movement and listed with a "hook lock band". Plus price matches the unnamed ad. Others had more diamonds and strap bands.

1978 Bulova Model 02963-7Y  is my call at this point.

Here is another interesting tidbit verifying ID of band. This watch and another shown in ad on that one have model numbers starting with 029, like Genevas; and all have non-removable mesh bands with hook closures. All are also dated 1978.
