Watch Description

Bulova Longchamp Ellipse “Lapislazzuli” / lapis lazuli dial, likely early 1970s.

What I found online:

  • A matching listing identifies it as Bulova Longchamp Ellipse Lapislazzuli, reference 489990, 1970–1979, with a 30 × 41 mm ellipse case and manual-wind movement
  • One auction/listing claims it was produced in about 25 pieces worldwide, but I’d treat that as seller-claimed, not proven factory documentation.
  • Another current/archived dealer listing had one priced around €1,399, described as new old stock with box/papers.
  • Your photo matches the key traits: Bulova, Longchamp, blue stone-like dial, ellipse/oval case, Swiss marking, and mesh bracelet.

My mom purchased as a Father's Day gift in 1971. I was born in Feb of that year and I was their first. Location of purchase was in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. I remember him wearing it as a kid and I thought I’d ask my parents about this watch. Mom goes upstairs and comes down with it along with some other cool vintage watches. Such a cool color dial.

The dial doesn't lie.   1971 Bulova Longchamp.  It is awesome to have such a family treasure.  Stainless with a Blue Lapis dial and mesh bracelet.  The perfect dress watch.

Thanks Jim. Unfortunately my wrist is over sized for the bracelet:(

It still runs after sitting dormant for possibly 45plus years. I would like the glass polished to remove the scratches and a really good cleaning.
