Red dial. Day date complication
I've found a match for your watch as a 1971 Bulova Accutron Date and Day "AU".

Hi and thanks. In the catalog it refers to a black "turtle" strap. From the pic in can tell it looks patterned like alligator maybe? When I search for watch turtle strap all i come up with are Seiko Turtles which are fine watches but not what I am looking for. Any suggestions?? And thanks again. This is a great group.

Hard to know exactly what that was short of having a new old stock watch with the strap intact. So many different types of leather.......shark, snake, cow, hog, ostrich, sting ray, frog, and even - TURTLE!

I have read about batteries for this one. How important is it to use the Accucell batteries? I was ready to put a Renata 371 in it but read the suggestion that the Accucell is necessary for proper function? Would I hurt it if I try the 371?
I always use a 344 for my 218 movements.
