Hi Everyone. Can anyone identify this one? It has a 21 jewel 10BP movement that carries two date marks. L9 and a less distinct one near the Bulova stamp M3. I found a crystal that fits exactly, GS CMC360 and it's maked "Engineer AB" but I can'y find a mention of it in any of the catalogues. Case is marked M2.
Best Philip
Philip,
That would mean Engineer "A or B..." Anyone seen a display ad for an early 60s Bulova Engineer? If the case is stamped "M2," then the '63 movement would then mean a likely "1963" release?? Or ???
:-) Scott
Don't think the movement date code is L9, it's probably 61.
No the movement is stamped L9 and M2, no boubt whatever. And the crystal packet "Engineer A B"
Philiip,
Being the Dial appears as a standard White with Gilt configuration ENGINEER 'A' would be My guess.
The Second stamp on the movement is M3 - 1963.
Sorry gents, but I can't see the M3 date stamp on the movement. Can someone please point it out.
So far I see the movement is 1959 and the case is 1962...
Chances are the L9 movement was excess stock and restamped in the US by Bulova to be cased in a 1963 watch.
In reply to Sorry gents, but I can't see by mybulova_admin
admin,
opposite from the L9 and before the word Bulova in Bulova Watch Co, above the screw head.

Found a Bulova "Engineer E & F " in the April 1962 BB Suplement but no crystal spec's

I also can't see a M3 on the movement, but the picture makes it out to be 23 Jewels stamped on the movement on my screen.

ABOVE is what I had for crystals for the various Bulova Engineer models from a year ago, in Excel... I likely have the remaining blank part nos. as well (?) however I've oddly had issues with Excel NOT saving data inputed on these Bulova IDs, since day one...
Those are G-S and SUC (i.e. acrylic) part nos., then BB glass, and my stock at that time, which has increased... and I'm not showing: Perfit, W-C, Fulton, Federal, etc., mind you...
If anyone wants some (or more?) crystal catalogs, I will soon be reselling my remaining duplicates on eBay. (Perhaps as soon as tomorrow?) They will likely range in price from say $19.95- $24.95 US, depending on condition and info. value... I paid an average of $20.00 for each. And as I've eluded to many times here... this is often the ONLY WAY to make headway on correct model IDs, aside from catalogs/ads/illustrations... (FYI- above: 1200 series = model no. And '62 denotes the model year...)
