Watch Description

Picked up this cool Bulova 23 set with the original disay case and tags.   No pics of the automatic movement because it's a front loader and I am terrible at those.   Cool rimmed bezel and black dial... stainless everything.

1960 Bulova "OAW" as seen in advert from linebook  here

Nice kit, indeed. I think this is a first for the database.

I have another whole set up in one of my 23's posted.  Even had two extra links for the original bracelet intact.

Bulova 23 "OAW' is a good match for this year.

I have this watch (mine is a 1961 10BZAC) and it was mostly straightforward getting the dial out. I grabbed the crown and pulled firmly and the crown with the attached male part of the split stem came out (the linked video above has the opposite arrangement with the female part attached to the crown). Then I removed the bezel with a case knife and lifted the crystal out. To replace the split stem I first rotated the female split stem part still in the movement until the groove on the female end is horizontal (parallel to the caseback).   Then I took the crown with the attached male split stem and oriented it so that the male fin-type part is also horizontal and then inserted into the case tube while giving it some pressure until it snapped back into the female part. It helps to have a crystal press to get the bezel back on.

Isn't the linebook entry for the 1961 23 "OAW" different than this watch though? While this dial also has embossed numbers at the quarter hour, it also has embossed markers for the other hours while the linebook entry doesn't.

1960 Bulova 23 "OAW" is a match.  If I recall the bezel holds the crystal and can be removed.  For removing the stem I use a hand puller tool to yank it out.   Not too complicated on this one.  You can also use two hand pullers and EVENLY lever it on the back side.
