Bobbee noted this blurry 1959 ad snippet appears to be a "mystery dial" watch (watch on right below).  Looks like the overall point of the full ad is slim waterproofs....although the lugs may be a little different...looks very similar to Bob's subject watch and ad appears to be for Bulova 23's.

I'm good w/  Bulova 23 Mystery Dial in variant field for now.  Looks like the system is not resetting the ticks when the model name is changed.  I have "previous tick votes" assigned w/ recent model name changes.  FYI
