there are also subtle differences in the dial and hands between the 1940's and 1950's versions.

based on the movement model, the case serial number and the dial / hand combination I would date the subject to 1959

For me the subject watch looks to be an exact match to the Bulova Sportsman.

This from the 1957 Bulova Linebook.

This watch is also listed as a Chronograph "C" in a 1953 linebook.(#38787).

So based on all this i think a Bulova Aircraft seems most suitable based on the leather strap mount.

We just need to work out the date 1953-1959.

mysterious bulova person can you please take another look at the movement, particularly within those areas already mentioned There should be a date stamp somewhere.

I'm going to agree with

Bulova Aircraft  as the most logical choice based on mount as presented. Date is still an unknown.

I am also going to agree with Bulova Aircraft as the most logical choice as presented. Date is pending upon confirmation for the owner..

The 1959 'AIRCRAFT' (although it is currently listed as 1956 in the database) has a case serial number of 912009

The subject has a case serial number of 936528, it would not be unrealistic to tentatively date it also to 1959.
