This was my great-grandfather's watch from WWII (we have picture confirming this). We wasn't wealthy, so I'm guessing the case is just gold plated. The face has 2, 4 , 8, 10, and 12 in Arabic numerals. The crystal, strap. seconds wheel, and hour hand are missing. The back of the case is grey (stainless steel?) and has "Bulova Quality L3" inscribed at the top and the serial number 7926338 on the bottom. I put 1937 as the manufacturing date, but I'm not certain of this. I can't get the case open and don't want to push it given the poor condition of the watch. Any and all help identifying this family heirloom would be greatly appreciated!
L3 equates to 1953.
Your watch is a 1953 Bulova Roderick, like this one here: Bulova 1953 Roderick | myBulova.com

The images You have of Your Grandfather are more likely of Him returning from the Korean War, which officially ended in 1953.
A wonderful heirloom.
