So what's the difference between the Ambassador and the Everett? Both ads are dated 1952.
Oooohh! Tough one. Hard to tell from the grainy ad but the Everett appears rectangular as opposed to square like the subject watch and the Ambassador ad. I'll see if I can find crystal specs for both.

Yes, another fine can of worms! They look identicle to me.For the record, I'm sticking to the Ambassador ad. This ad has a confirmed date of 1952. It comes from the 1952 Fall / Winter edition Spiegals catalogue which I currently own. Perhaps the name was changed later in the year for the Christmas season or something like that. I dunno.........

Yep, both ads are using expansion bands, both selinh for the same price too. 1st thing I looked at, hoping to see one with a leather strap.
As Mr Bruno pointed out the band is the only difference in the 2 ads.
A 1952 Fall/Winter catalogue would be for a 1953 market?

Ok, it's not a humdinger, It's an "Abassarett" also known as "We're back at square one". Jeesh
The Bulova model lists indicate three occurrences of "Everett". They show up in 1954/55 lists. One section indicates price and gold color, and a second just lists model numbers alphabetically.
Entry below is for "yellow gold" and listed price is $85.

There are two configurations of model 31710: one is the yellow gold case for $85. Don't know what the difference is for the $75 configuration.
Bulova sometimes has unique model numbers for changes in dial/gold color, and other times the model number remains the same while the price and other ares of the lists suggest what those differences are. One of the things we can do is look at other similar model series in the lists with this same price difference, then compare characteristics for those for which we have ads. This ten dollar price difference in the 31710 Everett is consistent with others, with the gold content and/or dial color often being the characteristic which we can associate with this $10 price difference.
Then I just speculate based on familiarity w/ the lists and various ads on site. The $69.50 Everett matches the price of the ad we have, so we can associate characteristics with that one. I believe some of the crystal catalogs also use these unique Bulova model numbers, but I don't have any of those crystal catalogs.
There's about 20 Ambassadors in these lists, w/ diff gold/dial color combos and other characteristics which are not evident from the list. We can, however, cross check ads on site for various Ambassadors, and make some comparisons between ads (price, gold color etc) and info in the lists, but it's not too helpful in this instance.
