The case and dial match a Duo Wind except no black dial Duo Wind are in the DB. The hands do not match the other Duo Wind watches either.
The case dial and hands all match the lumed Duo Wind with the exception of the color. Most likely a variant of the Duo Wind B or G variant but in some cases the black dial watches had different names like Midnight Clipper or Midnighter. Looking for any ad that might mention the black variant.

The ad Jim found shows the right style hands. I'm wondering about the black dial. No other Duo Wind among the member watches has a black dial. That's cool for me if it's legit. The ad shows the Duo Wind had this style hands at least on some variants. I'd say the black dial is a bigger issue since there's no documentation about one and no other examples. But that's not my call. But a Duo Wind variant for sure.
The Duo-Winds also came in a square case, so the number of variants could be a few..It would not surprise me in the least to see one of them listed as a black dial.

That said as the dial has 'Selfwinding' and not 'Duo-Wind' which might indicate another model all together.

Not saying Duo Wind on the dial doesn't exclude it from being a Duo Wind as there are several other member watches that are that way. I agree it does open the possibility that it's a different model. However, the case is a match to the Duo Wind which, I believe, diminishes that possibility.
I just reviewed every round cased Duo Wind and Thayer from 1950-1954 and there is a distinct pattern.
I looked at the ads, whether the dial says Duo Wind or Self Winding, and if the dial was luminous or not. We have no Duo Wind ads after 1952. We also have no Thayer ads before 1952. There is the overlap between both models in 1952.
My initial conclusion is that any models dated 1950 or 1951 are the Duo Wind regardless of any other factors. Also, all models dated 1953 and 1954 are the Thayer regardless of any other factors. Fortunately, all the 1953 and 1954 examples match in all aspects. They say Self Winding and they are non luminous.
The 1952 models are the ones that should be questioned. All of the examples we have say Self Winding. There are five (5). Of those five, two are luminous and three are not. All the non luminous examples have already identified as Thayer and both of the luminous have already been identified as Duo Wind.
If my conclusions are accepted, the only changes that need to be made are to the two 1951 models that are currently identified as Thayer. They are Duo Wind. We lack any evidence to identify any 1951 model as Thayer but we do have Duo Wind ads for 1951.

What I forgot to include is my recommendation for identifying any future 1952 models.
I would only expect to see dials that say Self Winding. There are only 5 round, Duo Wind dials in the database. Four of them are 1950 and one is 1951. I doubt we will ever see a round Duo Wind dial from 1952. The only other variable is luminous vs non luminous. Except for the two 1951 models I recommend being changed to Duo Wind, all the Thayer models are non luminous and the Duo Wind models are luminous. To follow that pattern, any new 1952 models that are non luminous should also be identified as Thayer and any luminous models should be identified as Duo Wind.
