Watch Description

The dial indicates that this is an Excellency and seems to match the advert at: https://mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1951-3.j… . According the the ad the model is "His Excellency VV". The case is marked 10K GOld Filled, Bulova, L1. The case measures 37.5 mm, including lugs, and 21.4 mm excluding crown. The movement has a mark that appears to be "A5" - I did not see this as a year indicator. Can you tell me what this refers to?

As always, looking forward to your comments. John

I believe this is actually the "UU" variant. There are several ads for the "UU" and this one, likely incorrect, "VV" ad.

As for the movement stamp, A5 is odd and probably not factory stamped. The 5 looks a bit imperfect. Perhaps the bridge has been replaced or the entire movement at some time. The unmarked crown also indicates some non-originality.

Going by case date: 1951 His Excellency "UU"

I looked at the movement date code and wondered if it was mis-stamped A9 which is a date code for 1949. Either way I think Ken is right 1951 Bulova is Excellency UU ( I don't think there ever was a VV)

I also suspect the A5 is in fact mistruck A9 which equates to 1949 as indicted by Geoff above.
