I believe this to be a Duo Wind model with a black dial and a 10k rolled gold plate bezel. I have not seen a model with a black dial. I do not know if this could be a variant.
This is an interesting one for sure. The dial is pretty odd, It almost looks like it has a coat of clear lacquer applied over the black that is cracking and flaking? Never seen anything like it. Is the shine over or under the radium dots? In 1951, the square case Duo Wing came in 2 variants that I am aware of, both with white dial. Mounted on an expansion band as Variant "L" and mounted on leather as "K".
I'm going to speculate this is a refinished dial (but I may be wrong), so without a band it would classify as a generic
1951 Duo Wind
.
Ad is from 1952.

I would gladly send it to you for closer inspection.
Yes - This is a 1951 Bulova Duo-Wind
1952-53 linebooks show the white version with an actual designated name, so wondering if the black dial version also had a designated model name.

That is a tough one, it could have its own name. But will go with the 1952 ad for now.
1951 Bulova Duo Wind
I'm not finding a black dial match. Duo Wind w/o a variant seems appropriate.
For the record I think the:
- Bulova Duo-Wind "L" become the Bulova Spencer
- Bulova Duo-Wind "K" became the Bulova Bryant
sometime in 1952/53.
