Hi, here is my Bulova Tonneau, BC10, from 1950... I cannot identify it, it' s similar to a few of the 1950's models but not quite... the closest resemblance is to the Allerton but that' s not it.
Any ideas ?
thanks in advance
best regards
Roby
Can you confirm the movement is either 7 jewels or 17. This does not appear to be a 17 jewel movement, nor a 15. It looks to be a 7-jewel, and it is likely the Walton model; however there is also the Hancock to consider, which is identical to the Walton and I don't see a difference between the two. Both models shared the same model number (31901) and were advertised at the same prices ($24.75 and $27.50) during the same years.

Thanks for the reply, I believe that between the 2, Walton and Hancock which look really really similar, I would lean towards the Hancock that to me looks slightlty "chubbier" but very little, which is what mine is. A bit confusing to be honest as they are very similar, dial wise and case.

It is a 7 Jewels BC10 movement, just double checked, thanks !
Tricky as we have "Walton" adverts from 1947 to 1951 and was even advertised as 9 Jewels in a few adverts.
Then I see a bunch of adverts 1951 to 1953 for the Hancock, but also a mention (no image) in a 1948 advert.
I'm just leaning towards a 1950 Bulova Walton.

thanks again, I am confused, the 2 models are very much alike.
This is indeed a tricky one. As Ken points out, we see this model ID'ed in ads as both the Walton and Hancock, in 7 Jewel with the same model number. After downloading and manipulating above movement photo, It looks to me it's a 7 Jewel.
1949 ad - Walton

1950 ads Walton (L) and Hancock (R) Making note of Maxim w/ engraving on case

1951 ad - Walton

Face appears different on subject watch as it has the "hook bottom 7", where the ads show a more straight style. I find it highly unlikely that there is another named 7 jewel for this time frame on leather with the only variance being number shape on the dial, so is this of no concern?
I'm up in the air on this one and currently can go either way
Walton or Hancock. This one almost warrants a coin flip.

Ah ah... good one... I think you are correct, the more I look at the watch and at the ad pages of the Waltons and Hancocks the more I believe that this is the case, flip-the-coin... I noticed that the Hancock was also made in the 30's with different case shape ?
Could go either way for me as well. Looks like the ad above shows the numbers in the sub seconds dial. For that reason I will go with 1950 Bulova Walton for now.

Agreed, based on the 1951 color ad, Walton is the best match.

Ok then. Walton it is... will change in my folder descriptions and records the name... thanks to all !!
