This is a 1950 Bulova with an 8AC movement with 17 jewels in a 10k rolled gold plated case. Nearly everyone of these that I've come across had plate loss on the case from polishing. I spotted this one and it doesn't have any plate loss. It was a non-runner for parts or repair. The roller jewel was missing and the hairspring was magnetized. I've done just enough to it to get it running, but it's not keeping accurate time yet. The movement needs cleaning. The dial is not in good shape. All the printing was on it until it got rubbed off from me handling the movement. It's probably going to stay that way because I think the only dial refinisher left in the US is the one that charges $200+ to refinish a dial. I put a new crystal on it because the one that was in it wasn't the correct crystal and didn't fit correctly.
That's a nice clean example of a

Like this one. It appears that this watch was a "one year wonder."

Thanks Neet. They are hard to find, I know that. I've got another one here somewhere that has had 70% of the plating polished off of it. It looked good on flea bay but terrible when it arrived. I had been looking for a better one for around 4 years that I could afford.
Agree - 1950 Bulova Gramatan (noting that we've not discovered an advert for this model yet but we have two in the dB tagged as such)
