Calling this a 1950 Allerton. The case is Bulova New York, 10 K rolled gold plate, stainless steel back. Date code is L0. The 10BC movement is 15 jewels, consistent with those in the database. Its also marked L0. This runs and keeps time pretty well. It's funny. When I bought this I thought the engraving on the lugs was going to be the distinguishing feature on this watch. But it looks like the engraving around the bezel is what distinguishes the Allerton from the Engineer. Anyway some might call it gaudy but I kind of like it.
I realised that after the many years of looking at some Bulova mens watches.....beauty is in the eye of the beholder :-)
Some look great by themselves but just look plain silly on the wrist, others the exact opposite.
Bottom line.......if you like it....you wear it.....oh and enjoy the heck out of it!!!!
Great watch IMO!
