Unable to locate an ad with what appears to be a Senator case and this dial (two tone with Roman numerals). There is a 1940 Senator of similar or like description in the database;
Movement date code is an asterisk, although perhaps hard to distinguish. A close-up is available.
10K Rolled Gold Plate, Stainless Steel Back;
Signed Bulova: Dial, movement, inside case back;
Unsigned crown measured: 5.25mm (digital caliper);
The crystal is perhaps a replacement given the height and noticeable gaps in at least two corners.
1941 Senator, no variant (we don´t have advert with this dial)
1941 Senator.
Beautiful watch.

I'm fine with the Senator... though i have a sneaking suspicion this is the Drake but I can't prove it.
Thank you Panel.

I think this is a misprint based on other ads.. The 1940-1941 Minute Man is a different watch and is like the one on the left. It also looks like there are ads calling it both Midshipman and Minute Man. Don't know what to think.

Well, that ad would seem to be a game changer. Roman numerals and two-tone pink dial. Interesting.
