Watch Description

I found a watch on https://www.watchophilia.com/photogallery/bulovas-1930-1939/a1939-irene/ that looks like the one I have.  They show the date of 1939.

I am not sure who the original owner was, my ex-husband had this watch, when he passed my son gave it to me.  I think it is a beautiful watch and was looking for additional information about it.  I am not a watch collector and have no clue on repairs, values, etc of watches.  The crystal is missing and it does not work.  I can adjust the hands and am not able to wind the watch.  The face of the watch has the even numbers on it and back-dashes for the odd numbers.

The back of the case reads  10K ROLLED GOLD PLATE BULOVA  B326610 - The band is a Fostner 720-12K Gold Filled, U.S.A.PAT.2.097.055   -  The watch mechanism has 6AH and what appears to be an asterisk stamped on it.  Inside of the bottom of the case there is a inscription that I can not make out, a date of 9-2-47, Bulova Fifth Ave New York, BB3043 and a heart.

1941 (B case serial) Bulova Irene looks like a great match. Original band as well which makes this extra special.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge, but I have a few inquiries. I thought I read that the bands on the watches were also made by Bulova. Your statement, "Original band as well which makes this extra special," prompts me to ask: in what way is it special? I realize this next question may seem trivial, but please understand that I am not well-versed in watches.  I am uncertain about what to do with the watch itself. The face is too small for my needs, assuming I can even find someone to repair it. I am currently in the process of decluttering, and this watch is one of  many items.  Thank you for your time.

The original watch band or strap is typically the first thing to wear out or break and be replaced, finding one with the original is always nice to find or see. The watch itself is by no means of high value monetarily, the value is in its' sentiment.

In studying the watch vs the vintage ad a little closer the Forstner branded band is not original, the point where it connects to the 3 'D' rings attached to the case differs.  The D rings are original to the case.

I see what you are saying.  My uneducated first thought was, maybe the "ring" that attaches the band the the case was an extension addition.  But probably not, the band does not lay flat on the wrist, there is a twist where the "ring" and the case attach.

Extra special as in it always a bonus when a was still has its original band. Many watches tend to have their original band replaced typically due to wear and tear or preference of material. A complete original watch is always more attractive to a colector than one that is not..
