Wondering if Bulova released a version with a red dial, or was that a custom alteration?
Either way the watch is a 1940 Bulova Newton
We have another in the database with original dial: https://mybulova.com/watches/1940-newton-10165

Found at a street fair along with other Bulova. It already had the red dial. However, there are indications that it was painted by former owner.
I thank you for your collaboration in identifying thes relics.
1940 Newton with non-traditional refinished face; noting "overpaint" on back side of dial.
I have seen many watches on eBay with colored dials. I always assume they are redials. It is nice looking either way.
1949 Bulova Newton
1940 Bulova Newton, It looks good in red
I'm wondering about the process of coloring a dial as such. It would appear that the number are removed, a clear tint is painted over the dial, and then the numbers and 'BULOVA' reapplied.
Anyone had any experience with taking the numbers off?
I also wonder if the dial was done to match the band or if the band was added to match the dial??

I thank all members of the MyBulova panel for help in identifying these "vintage" Bulova.
I also been curious on the dial color pre 1960. It seems prior to 1960 we only see white, black, Gray, copper, and brown on mens watches. Either way it is surely a one of a kind watch and fun to wear. Enjoy it.
Thank you JimDon5822 for your words. It really is a curious "look" in this 1940 Bulova Newton. It turns out that whoever occasinaly puts it on your wrist is my wife.
