Watch is immaculate. Someone really took care of this over the years. Original band, original box I'm thinking. Pretty unusual box with the gold bands on the top.
Do believe we've all decided this is a Lone Eagle A
That's a beauty, Plains. Wish mine looked so good.
Kind of a cool story. I found the original owners family. I was looking online and found the geneology for Mr. Ralph pretty easily. Then found his grandson. Might try to contact them to see about some information on him and what sort of business he did.
I'd like to keep this watch as a personal piece, but to be honest. If that guy wanted his grandfathers watch I'd give it to him at cost of what I got it for.
As a guy who started collecting because I found my grandfathers engraved watch and got curious, I can feel for someeone getting in touch with their ancestorers.
Nice story Plains, you a good guy :)

DITTO!!
Hey Jerin,
I don't think this one is an "Ambassador..."
:-) Scott
I agree--not an Ambassador. Not 21 jewels, and, per discussions in other threads, the case is too small for the Ambassador. Also it has the rings on the lugs, which the Ambassador did not have.
Plains, my friend, can we get this ID changed?
very nice
1941 ad on site

Oh yeah... I forgot about this guy. Apparently I do have all the Lone Eagles! Schweeet.
Wasn't there some discussion on why this wasn't a 1941 Engineer? I can't seem to find that discussion now. 1941 ad below:

Maybe subject watch was listed in a forum, and when changed to known/unknown the associated discussion remained in the forum post. I'll do a search site to see.
Will,
The 1941 ad showing the 'ENGINEER' in this Case could be from a different Country of origin other than the United States. eg: Canada?
Which also would explain the contradicting 'RADIO CITY' / 'BLACKOUT' thingy also, amongst some others.
