I hope if I have this wrong someone will correct me. There were two I found that looked the same, the "Banker" I believe was the other but it stated that it had a curved crystal, this one said curved crystal and back. Runs but missing second hand. Band marked Bretton. It sure is a very nice looking watch.

Nice watch !! That seconds hand is very tiny and may be in the case somewhere....happens alot.
I'd go with the Banker. 10AE/10AN second hand should be easy to come by on ebay.
Hi All,
Well does anyone know for sure?
Banker or Chief?
All I went by was the ad description.
Terry
Terry, what ad did you use for the Chief ID?

'BANKER' IMO - Non-engraved Case looks to have a Gold back (typical for pre 1940) and 'CHIEF' was not available in 1939?
'BANKER' - Rolled Gold Plate with Gold back, - thicker lugs.
'CHIEF' - Rolled Gold Plate w/ Stainless Steel back first seen in 1942 +/-

Going to say Banker... The Chief had scrolling down the sides of the Bezel. The Banker was smooth bezeled.
HI All,
Thanks for the info.
I am changing to "Banker". If anyone finds out more that is different, please let me know.
I have not had a chance to find the ads yet that I based my initial thoughts on, but will if I get a chance.

See my bankr in the postings. It is identical. Nice watch and My vote is banker too.

Notice the bottom of just a little of the 6 is showing. I am convinced it is a banker. My banker is identuical. The seconds hand will accept a 7AK according to my Bulova interchange book.
JP
Terry any chance you still have this watch for some measurements?
We also have a white back Banker from 1940, however I don't see any Banker ads for white back. All gold or inferred as all gold (none saying "white back" or similar verbiage). Did I miss a white back ad in 1939/40?
JP's 1941 Banker has a white back....
