I'm thinking this is from 1934-1937 from looking at possible date codes for a 4AE movement. Not seeing a date code on the movement. Hoping y'all can get me an exact year and model name.
Dear Bsshog40, your watch is the Miss America. Looking at the case signature inside, the watch is from 1937, 1938 or 1939. Late 1939 a new Miss America was introduced that looked very different. Typically we can date the watch by the first digit of the case serial number, which you indicated as a 0, but it not very clear from the picture. The movement could then give a conclusion, but as you say, you can't find a date code. I would say, have a closer look at the top right of above picture and tell us if you see the omega, shield, crescent moon or arrow as movement date code. Thanks!
Hey Alex, I had someone post this at watchuseek. What ya think?
Well I guess I can't add an image. But someone posted a link to a 1935 Geneveive.
Wrong spelling. Genevieve!
Ok, after looking at both, the Miss America looks like mine but it came with a 4AF 7j movement. The Genevieve has a slightly different case that came with a 4AE movement but it was a 17j movement.
So maybe a 1934 Miss America with a 4AE 7j movement?
The first number is a little vague.
Your watch certainly matches the late 1930s Miss America model with 7 jewel movement as shown here.
The 1935/36 Genevieve looks to be very similar but with a 17 jewelled movement.
Here is another nice clear advert from 1936 showing a near perfect match for the subject watch, with a 7 jewel movement.
The first number may in fact be a '6', which would make more sense than a '0'.
So I'd ID as a 1936 Bulova Miss America.
I agree. The first number looks like it is either a 6 or 8 looking at the bottom of the number. I agree with you on the Miss America. It sure looks like a match to me. Thanks y'all!!
Love these little baguette watches. I agree with Miss America.
1936 Bulova Miss America looks to be the logical match!
Thank y'all again! I just happen to have an old Miss America original box and case also. It will look good in there after I get and era band for it.
Thanks again,
Bobby
It can’t be 1936 since the case signature was different that year, so let’s settle on 1938 then.
