Found this one on eBay. It was relatively cheap so I took a chance. Identification has been a challenge. The case is 10 K rolled yellow gold. The case back is marked Bulova on the outside as shown. No markings on the inside of the case back. The serial number is very hard to see but it almost certainly begins with a "6". I may be missing something obvious but I can't find anything that looks exactly like this one. It looks like a standard kind of case for the time but the closest I can come to it is an Alexander. But it doesn't have the engraving on the bezel that the Alexander seems to have. I'd call it a Ranger if the crystal bulged out in the middle but it's straight as an arrow.
Still looking but currently at a loss

Closest I can find (and it might be a patch) is the Bulova Alexander.

Yes, that was the closest I could come as well. I guess it depends on how essential people think the engraving is.
I do like it, though. I’m wearing it now and it looks pretty good. Keeping good time, too.
Hi Tom - for an Alexander ID I'd really like to see engraving. Still looking....

Yes, I wouldn't disagree. It's an interesting case.
Found this ad from 1936 without engraving but the dial and jewel count doesn't match.

Does anyone else think this "Alexander" looks more like a Senator? The steps might be a little bit slanted but I'm kind of wondering if that's more a function of the artist trying to render the rounding on them. I wonder if its a mistake.

It very well could be an error. It wasn't uncommon for there to be mistakes in the ads back then. For that reason it is always great to find two ads to confirm things.
Looked again, still no luck. We may find an ad at some point, but for me it's still an unknown for now..
Sorry Tom , I'll have to vote for an Unknown
