Well that's one way to butcher what was a classic watch!

I hope you are able to get the original dial for this. Is it a two tone case?

Yes, the case is gold on the top and silver on the sides and bottom. The dial is an unusual colour. The numbers and the word BULOVA look original though. It is only strange that the seconds are not marked. If the dial were painted red by someone, they certainly did a very professional job.

There is a well know eBay seller that does this to many vintage Bulovas. In fact is caused a great uproar on this site.

I'm certainly not a fan of taking a beautiful vintage watch and giving it some over the top colored dial.

If I were you I look to get the dial replaced with an original one.

Each to their own.

I have looked closer and there is a paint smudge on the back of the dial. Thus, definately someone repainted the original dial. Any suggestions on where to buy a dial?

The Seconds Hand is incorrect also. - You could have the Dial refinished back to original.

I noticed that the model ID rating is 0 stars. I think it is clear that the dial is the original one, just painted over. The numbers are the right style for the model in question and there is the raised Bulova brand name.

The movement is a 10AN 17J, like the other 1934 Lone Eagle listed on this site (which also has 0 stars). Is there a problem identifying this model?

I have to agree with TdH, it IS identified , many other watches with improper dial finish are identified and accepted. Just because this one was refinished by our disliked e-bayer should not take away from the ID. It is simple, it is a Lone Eagle.

Thanks, Bourg01! Great website. I would not have known where to go without your help. I've just sent them an email for a quote. They do ask that you only send the dial, so I will have to have a watch maker here help me remove the dial and to put it back on when the dial returns from Int'l Dial. More of an investment than I expected, but I am sure the result will be worth it.
