I may be way off the mark but I believe I have a 1934 Hancock variant or a 1935 Hancock bezel with a 1934 movement. The strap also looks original with the writing "CALFSKIN" and "EXTRALONG" on either strap. Any further information is appreciated.
Hi Brendan, welcome to myBulova. Neat watch for sure.
S/N starting with a "9" with the absense of a case stamped 2 digit date code would indicate it is either a 1929 or 1939 case. Look for a date code on the movement. On the home page is a link to "Date Codes" that has a matrix of what they look like. We need to start by figuring out the date.

There is a circle stamped on the movement so with the 15 jewels I thought maybe 1934.

Hi Jabs, the serial numbers that are there are stamped nice and deep and are very legible. I wonder how likely that the first digit would be missing?
Good point on the case S/N, Jabs. Is casing yellow or white gold plate? It looks white; and Commander ads of this time period only appear to list yellow as a choice. Face is also different.

It is yellow and white gold. Yellow where the engraving is and white on the sides.
Two-tone case is a match for the Cavalier which as also 15J. Dial is obviously different but could be a variant or a movement/dial swap from a Hancock.
Still could be another model.....
Ad dates to 1934.

Good ad find, Stephen. I think we are on the right track now. Dial on subject watch also appears to be a match to the Kirkwood shown in same ad.
Based on this advert I would agree that the case is Cavalier, noting a possible dial swap. This would be a first for the dB.
