White gold version. Case back is hinged and has two serial numbers one outside, one inside. Inside case back is marked Bulova Quality. Not sure I've encountered a 10 AN without a serial number and a hand stamped only date code. Doubt the band is original but it certainly fits the era this watch was born of.

This advert was published in the San Jose News September 30, 1932 and shows the common LE model for this period which confusses this issue. Same seller, same name, different watches.

Gensler Lee had 16 shops nationwide, and the ad you post is from their San Jose shop.
The Lone Eagle ads were found in the Bakersfield and Oakland areas.
The company knew the difference in the two models, as advertised.
Any thoughts, anyone?
I think these ads warrant a Bulova Information Sharing forum post, were we could lay them out w/ some differnt examples of watches and have discussion which may relate to all three of the watches now under consideration? That's a thought...I'm just spread thin on time (and focus) today, or I'd give it a try now.
I leave that to the panel, but in my opinion it's an LE.
Why, with two ads separated by 15 months, are we questioning the validity of an ID?
Just because it is a "precious" Lone Eagle? If it was "just" a Senator, we wouldn't have any trouble believing it. Oh yeah, we already did that for the 1928 Senator, didn't we, on very, very little information!
To the Bulova Watch Company, it was their biggest moneyspinner, and the more the merrier. Just look how many Lone Eagles there are in the watch DB, from all the years of their production, and then think "why are there none from 1933?"

You and I have spent more time on site in the last week then the entire panel combined. That's not because of interest, it's because most other folks are not lucky enough to have the time we do right now. If we build it, they will come....in their time.
I dont know that it has anything to do with it being a prescious lone eagle, I think it's more a function of this model series has been studied quite a bit, so when something new comes up, it brings up good reason to discuss possibilities.
What about the Price difference too?
The Trident is advertised at $24.75 across the board.
The Lone Eagle advertises at $37.50 in the 1932 ad, and $39.75 in the 1933 ad. That with all the rest of the proof should be enough evidence for anyone.
EDIT:- Just think about that price difference for a moment. That is more than 50% higher for the LE in the ads, about a weeks average wage in difference, maybe more.
If anyone needs proof of the Trident price, I can supply quite a few ads, and all have the same price, $24.75. :^D
OK Forum post starting tonight...and by the way...Bobbee you were a panel member for the last year, you gotta be investing something like 40 hours a week on "Bulova research", no panel member is as familiar with the recent ads you have found as you are....and you have the passion and knowledge of an an active panel member....so just because you don't have the little Panel Member Icon next to your user name this month doens't mean I don't consider your opinions, efforts, or input "like that of a panel member" :) I listen and encourage participation from all members- panel members or not- but really enjoy and benifit from your efforts of late. Keep it up buddy!
