Is there a model name for this watch? also, is it 1929 or 1939? The watch also in working order.

It is certainly out of the ordinairy. Movement would be 1929, since to my knowledge the 6AF was not produced any longer in 1939. Style of the case is also early 30's. Case serial would put it in 1930 assuming that if it is all original Bulova, they would have asked Star case to follow their case encoding system. Is there any engraving on the outside of the back of the case or is all the info inside? Reason I ask is that as from 1934 Bulova put also info outside as per the link I put above.
So, nice watch. Unknown for the moment. Would you have a detailed photo of the case signature inside?

OK, thanks. So the engraving on the outside is put by the owner to personalize the watch. That confirms it is probably 1930. Unknown.
Isn't this pretty early to see a Bulova in a Star case? Also agree w/ Alex that we don't have any examples of 6AF past 1936, as is also the end date in the movement database.

1930 Bulova Unknown.
Other than the movement, it doesn't show too many Bulova traits. Case, dial and hands all look very different from the norm of this period. Are we seeing an original unknown or a cobblers creation?

Yea....since Jabs has a similar in Star Case, I'm at 1939 Unknown for now...but thinking Non-Conforming. I go w/ shield date code on movement, as I'm not convinced the first ditig of case SN would hold for Star case.

Sfedullo, non-conforming watches are the those that appear to have been assembled with parts coming from several sources and therefore not all 'original'. The question is around the 'non Bulova' case signature. It's still a fine watch, just not all Bulova.
