SWISS 4 Adj, case reads Pat Jan 11 1927 14K Gold Filled New York
Sorry about poor quality images. I checked ads 1928 thru 1930 to no avail. Runs great but dirty. Dial should clean up a little.
I'm gonna remove the dial and look at the back side tce... The weird open-nine isn't what I've seen in 1929-ish examples. There's a tad of the old lum left on the five...
Check the database. We definitely have other examples, in early models, of the open 9.
Here's a 1924 open 9: http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1924-unknown-1986
And a 1926: http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1926-conqueror-1947
And a 1927: http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1927-ambassador-1806
Is your concern that, by 1929, the open 9 had been dropped?
I love the case on this one.

Thanks Yes it was my concern that for this dial type/style the open nine dial didn't show up much after 1929.

From database watch and ad examples, this "exact" or a very similar dial spanned at minimum early 1927 thru at least 1929 (in subject watch). This dial is same appx measurements and looks like Wayne's 1928 Executive dial from:
http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1928-Executive-56
down a ways at

There is, like you pointed out, the 27 Ambassador at http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1927-ambassador-1806 in case w/ 1924 patent date and very similar size dial & case, but different printed tracks.

I was just trying to decide if the dial in the subject watch was likely original, and in which other watches or ads it appeared, and over which appx timespan. Thanks for your help. I'ts a cool unknown watch w/ a nice old dial that was apparently not used for too many years based on what I could find poking around.

well so much for a Bulova-wide disappearance of the open 9 dial around 1929....
may have taken a brief hiatus as it appears in the early 1940's also on the 'AIR WARDEN' and 'NIGHTHAWK' models.
