An unknown ladies, with a serial number starting with 856 that is identified by me as being from 1927, confirmed by the movement. They can be recognised by their case signature with "American Standard", the standard case signature of 1926 and 1927, and not "New York", as this was the standard signature for 1928. Hi,

Thanks for the input but You may be overthinking things a little.

It is clearly evident, from the 7.000+ watches in this website database, that the Year of manufacture for Bulova watch cases between the period of 1923 and 1946 are identifiable by using the first numeral of the case serial number.

This was an observation made by  Myself back in 2012 +/- and has become the standard method of dating a Bulova watch case.

The subject case serial number begins with an 8, its' date of manufacture - 1928.

Agreeably the movement is 1927, easily identifiable by its' datecode stamp.

A 1927 movement in a 1928 case?  Not an uncommon occurrence.

This Case looks very much like the Gent's 'OXFORD' of era...... but that dial.
