Gold Filled case, wire lugs
American Standard case, Warantee 20 years.
I am almost convinced that the American Standard Shield and Globe insignias refer to the Gold content / Warranty on the Case.
Shield - 20 Years.
Globe - 25 Years.
Interestingly enough, in the new American Standard Watch Case ads there is a flyer dated 1920, the Case serial number begins with a 0, second numeral is a 9 (?)
I am basing 1921 for this case on the first digit of the serial number, I could be wrong.
We have somewhere a reference to the Shield being used/registered as of February 1921.
With regards to serial numbers of this era, I believe Bulova were manufacturing a large amount throughout 1920 and 1921, of which I further believe all had serial numbers staring with '10xxxxxx'.
I don't believe that the shield/globe had anything to do with the gold quality as my records show many examples of both being available with 20 and 25 years stampings.
FLAG !!!
By case s/n this one should be a 1920.
