Watch Description

1965 Bulova Rawlings 17J 7BPP movement date stamped M5, 10K RGP bezel & back, date stamped M5, 2-tone White & Silver dial with Gold applied markers, no sub-seconds on this one! Very interesting case style very similar to the tentative Craftsman in the early 60's, but larger in size. (last picture), and this one has the tiny 7BPP movement. The crystal is a perfect snap fit and fits the slight crystal groove curvature and should merit a 2 star tentative rating until a ad comes along to back it up.

Academy Award Dials myth Busted

Submitted by bourg01 on

Hi All,

Been a while since I last visited since my disgreements with Stephen and site issues but that's past us now. This find is just far too significant to be kept hidden in my cataloge. For years we all believed all AA model watches had curtain textured dials. Last year that myth was debunked with the addition of a few new ads showing a 2-tone " X " or quadrant dial.

We have always disregarded plain Bulter dials as being used, but suspected maybe they were.

Watch Description

This watch was found in my late great grandmother's jewlery case. The back of the watch says:

14K GOLD

BULOVA L2

185292

The movement is a 5AD, with 21 purple jewels and it corresponds with the L2 dating on the case. The crown is a replacement, and says "Elgin."

Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated! I am in love with this sweet watch, and would like to know more of it's story. And I know there's a mason charm  (as shown in one of the pictures) that doesn't belong to the original watch. I just don't have the heart to remove it yet. :)

Still wondering about the case style, because that seems to be the trickiest part to determine!

White Gold Lot

Submitted by plainsmen on

Picked up this lot from the same seller as the Physician I got... just a few minutes after.

Very nice lot I think.  I'm happy with it though I paid top of my snipe.  Should clean up well.

Looks like a Statesmen, a His Excellency, an some old 20's watch, and I dunno what that non-conforming dial second from the left is?
