hello i have an old banker 1928, the case has a small dent about a millimeter dia. . i was wondering what tools i could use to remove the dent..i am afaid of making it worse though...i was hoping someone had some tips and hints on removing dents...i would leave it alone but its dead center on the top of the bezel....i just don't want to muck it up....i was thinking maybe some type of dentist picks or something simliar..
I wouldn't recommend anything metal. I have used small wooden dowels used in crafts, it all depends where the dent is. You also need to have the front of the bezel resting on wood like a paint stir stick or similar or you'll make the dent worse. Start with light even pressure until you start seeing results. I have used a rubber mallet lightly tapping the dowel directly over the dent. Without seeing what your dealing with it's hard to give better specifics.
thanks for the tip , i haven't been able to comment,been busy...here are some pics of the dent,they are hard to see but its there...the problem is the fact the dent is between the space for the crystal and top of the bezel so its hard to get at..i will try filing down a dowel rod to fit in there...if you hadn't said anything i probably would have used something metal. when i did a search online, i only got repair companies,nothing i could really use...i did some dent repair on cars when i worked at a car dealer,and i used metal rods,,so again thanks for the tip...
well i tried use a dowel rod but i really can't get any leverage on the rod beause of the space i have to work within i'll try to figure something out...the other problem is having the dowel filed down enough to fit in that space and to still have enough power to manipulate the metal....
