Hi,
I recently inherited my grandfather's m6 unknown and it works for seconds at a time. It's value, I'm sure is solely sentimental, however I'm hesitant to take it just anywhere after reading various jeweler reviews. After searching on here I'm guessing it needs a good cleaning. My goal is to get it working and be able to wear it, it's a stunning piece and just the right size (oversized) for my wrist.

Add as much information as you can about your watch and please help us further by adding some nice clean photos of the front and back.
If you are unsure of the model ID just select 'Unknown' for now and we'll hopefully be able to help you out.
Hopefully another member here has good experience with a good repairer in your area. Alternately there are a number of members who offer cleaning/repair/restoration services. See their ads on the home page.
Silver' - I think the sentimental value of a watch is 10 times its monetary value. I trust any one of 4 or 5 watch makers who advertise on this site will treat your watch with the respect it deserves (it's a long story but the fixers of watches are called makers). Their prices will be very competive with what a local jewelry store will charge as the local jewelry store will often send it to someone like one of our members but double the price to you for service / repair. US Priority mails delivers in the US within a couple days at very reasonable rates. We all use it, a lot.

Thank~you for your reply. Somehow I'm missing the area where it has names for repairs..... If you could point me in the direction of any I'd be thrilled. Sending it off to someone who is highly regarded on here would make me much more comfortable than taking it to a random jewelry store. My beloved watch went in for a battery change and they cracked the back off but didn't bother to tell me. When I returned to the store it was a "prove it" situation. So now that I've received my grandfathers watch I'm hesitant to take it just anywhere. It surprising that there are so few watch makers.
