First post, so please be patient. I'm doing an info dump so other people can search for it later. Disabled Vet with lots of "time on my hands," so I recently decided to take a crack at repairing watches. This is the first one I'm tackling! What I *think I know is that it is a 1967 or 1968 Clipper P. I've stripped it down to the movement, but stopped there until I find more info. I have pictures of everything, so please feel free to ask for specifics & I'll post them. I was going to post them all at once, but could only figure out how to include a single picture. Here's all of the markings I've been able to find. Anything in parenthesis is what I think it means.
Dial:
- Black face (the P model)
- Off white Arabic numerals all around
- White text:
- BULOVA
- AUTOMATIC
- White ring around dial face
- black minute ticks
- bottom of dial
- T SWISS MADE T
- Minute & hour hands are lumed. Given the year, I know that could mean radium, so I'm not going to do anything with them.
Case:
- Bulova
- F392400 (serial number)
- M7 (1967)
- Waterproof
- Self-Winding
- Anti-Magnetic
- Stainless Steel Case
- Shock Resistant
- There is a small locating tab at the top that centers it in the case.
- The case is held close with a rotating ring.
- When I took it apart, the ring, case back, a gasket, & another ring all fell out, so I'm not sure the order the gasket & other ring were stacked.
Movement:
- Bulova Watch Co.
- 11 ALAC (automatic, sweep second)
- 17 Jewel
- Seventeen
- Swiss
- Unadjusted
- M8 (1968)
- BXW (import code for the parts)
I *think I've tracked down a catalog number, but I'm not positive: 11364Ws.
What I'm looking for is a parts list, or diagram, or ideally an exploded view. I've found it for other versions, but not the ALAC. Specifically the case back gasket part number & dimensions. Some part had to be first, so why not start there? Hopefully the diagram will include oiling suggestions, but I think I can figure that out through other means.
In a perfect world, somewhere out there is a step by step of how to take it apart & put it back together, but in reality, at best, I hope to find a parts list.
Any assistance is appreciated & I'm eager to get it stripped down, cleaned, rebuilt, & on my wrist. This will be my first automatic taken from start to finish & love that it's a Bulova!
Airborne Turtle welcome.
Please add your watch (in it's assembled state) here: https://mybulova.com/add-your-watch where the myBulova.com panel will review it an confirm/assign an official ID, which will then be searchable via the sites model listing.
It will then join the two other examaples we have in the Database.
