Just old memories and this photo to go on

Submitted by Cleon XIII on

Hello all:  New user here. I’m trying to find the model Bulova my grandfather wore. I vaguely remember it and believe he was buried with it when I still very young.  I recall a round case, gilt-black dial, thick crystal, and 12-3-6-9 numerals in a block style,.  This is the closest I have found after much use of tools like Google and ChatGPT. The source for this image lists no information whatsoever. What I remember being different is the indices were on a black background, and I’m fairly sure they were on the dial (not the bezel).

ChatGPT and Gemini AI claim this is a President or His Excellency. I’ve looked through your site and while those models are close in appearance, they don’t match the distinctive 12-3-6-9 indices.  TIA for the help. I know this is little to go on but it would mean a lot if I could source my own Bulova like his.

Forgot to add this photo - my recollection is a watch like this but with the numerals from my above post.

Cleon - is the watch you added to the database (THIS WATCH) your watch?

I am not aware of any Bulova round watches with raised hour markers on the case other than the Berkshire/Air King/Midnight Star as shown above.  Are you sure it was a Bulova?

Unfortunately, it could be one on a good number of models. Your best bet is to narrow down the year your father bought the watch and search the site part and full adverts.

Thanks for the help. I suspect I’m looking for either a Berkshire or an Air King. My newbie question is: What is the difference between these two models?

Also: any photos of the bottom watch in the following? This looks like it has a black bezel with applied numerals.

Air king

I suspect and believe that the bezels on these watches are just yellow gold in color and that the blackness we are seeing is a kind of negative reflection (if that's even a thing).

The Air King has the exact same bezel as the Berkshire.
