Dear all,
I found a Bulova Accutron Spaceview with an M8 case, but an M9 movement
I would like to know if this is OK, or is a Frankenstein watch
Thanks
Francesco
It's not possible to say if this is an origianl Spaceview withouit knowing the case number.
We all know it's technically possible to convert most 214 watches into a Spaceview with the right parts, but originality I believe comes from one of the following case numbers.
For the purposes of IDing a watch on myBulova.com we aren't too worried about a single year difference between the movement and case.

OK here's the truth to the matter:
Originally the very first Spaceview was a Jeweler's display model. Created by the Jeweler themselves. Customers saw these display models and asked if they were available. Bulova caught wind of the excitement, being able to actually look into and see the Tuning Fork movement so they decided to start producing mainly Sold Gold cased Models. Later the models became a regular sold to the public model. But here's the deal; Any good watchmaker with Bulova special Spaceview Crystals and hands could convert most 214's to Spaceviews. So the watch that was originally a conversion was altered as a conversion and there is truly no way to ever know if your Spaceview is original or not. Just because you may have a number matching case for a factory Spaceview does not mean the movement is original nor the crystal, bezel ring and hands. Love to hear the arguments, John V. TIME & AGAIN
