Watch Description

1966 Bulova Accutron Spaceview 214, date code M6, purchased by my great-grandfather. The custom accents on the band was done by a jeweler in his hometown of Osage, Iowa that he had done a good amount of business and become quite good friends with. The watch no longer operates, unfortunately. I had recently had it sent in to Bulova for possible repair, but was informed that they no longer manufacture the parts necessary to make the needed repairs.

A great watch and great heirloom. Love the custom band! Best of luck with the restoration!

I spent some time in the Line Books and the dB. I'm suggesting this is a factory original 1966 Bulova Accutron Spaceview I, like this one.

1967 Line Book BAWD0166, pg 86 in the pdf.

Once I'm able to get the watch sent to Henry, I'll ask if he can get me as much information from the movement as possible to confirm.

What a wonderful heirloom from your great grandfather!  Love his personal touches on it.

Not sure it makes a difference to the variant, but the crystal markings are different.

Subject has logo and Accutron bewteen 8 and 9. "I" variant shows logo at 12 and Accutron at 8.

Details, details. Guess I missed the tuning fork location.....it's STILL a 1966 Accutron Spaceview though

I missed the tuning fork location as well. Would the crystal be a factor in ID?

Probably not as it could either be a replacement, or it's how they came in that year. I've seen a few variations.

I say if we cannot find another example with the crystal elements matching the subject, we just stick with the "I" variant.

I'll take a look at the Accutron catalog I've got and see if it has any variants matching the subject crystal style.

It's probably nothing...but.....

Finding variants based on mount. "I" is mounted on leather, "H" on 10K GF/SS expansion band.

Based on mount I think we should go Spaceview "H".
