This watch record has the Spaceview case number listing you were looking for Stephen. 2527 is not listed as original

That is correct, if the watch in question is not on the spaceview list it's not a factory spaceview and therefore could not be converted (Bulova did not approve the watch for conversion) BUT that doesn't mean someone could make it into a "spaceview" anyways...

Admin,

News is continuing to come in as my aged father remembers more about the watch. In the 70s, he did send the watch to Bulova for cleaning AND to remove the dial/face so he could see the movement. So, they apparently installed the brass spacer ring as a replacement for the dial's thickness. Effort is underway to locate the original dial.

Those 218 rings that went between the pillar plate and dial are not the correct thickness needed to correctly take the place of the removed dial so you should get the correct ring Bulova P/N MR401 Dial Ring Spacer...

You know for as long as I've been working on Bulova Accutron 214 Watches (many years) I never knew what the ABC stood for until now! lol

Thanks! lol

Alternately you could get a chapter ring (see dial reflector above) in place of a dial. Whilst not an original Spaceview, I think the addition of the dial reflector would make it a correct conversion and would to some extent be just how your father wanted it.

AstroM2 might be able to confirm if a dial reflector would fit....I would imagine so.

I'm sorry but a chapter ring can not be added to a non-chapter ring bezel as the bezel is machined for the CR and the bezel has a locating pin to index the CR,. The CR is retained with a press-fit armored crystal...

Thanks, that is good info to know.

I'm an Accutron novice when it comes to fixing them, and thought that might be a simple solution. Obviously not.
