Here is an offsite ad from 1968 showing a non-numeral dial. The Snorkel model was part of Bulova's line-up going back to the 50s (per the pricelists we have), but I cannot find any ads pre-1965.

I think there's a few similar from various years w/ magnified date window. Most are 1963 onward.
