The image You are showing is from a Watch 'Price Guide' and is not an actual advertisement.

The image shown above is of the original manuals produced by the Manufacturer of the Watch which were included with each sale when purchased new.

 

* Please note: The Watch manufacturer refers to its product by 'Series' on the "Owners Guide and Guarantee" booklet and also on the information booklet provided with the Rairoad Models "Accutron Timepieces in Rairoad Service", Accutron is not simply referring to the Movement inside.

To answer Your question posed prior as to who in the industry refers to the Accutron by Series the answer would be the Watch manufacturer and the Professionals who service them.

I wouldn't think that the Owner's Guide would be specific to a model as the model depends on the case, dial, etc. not the functionality of a particular series.

Correct. The manual in many cases like this one where for the movement type and the working functions of that movement. Anyone buying a watch that housed a 214 would have given the same manual.

For now I am happy to stay with the convention of what was started and to list as a generic Accutron Railroad Aproved.

There is a potential solution in moving theses Accutrons into a dedicated myAccutron website, but I would need a great deal if help in making that a reality.

Admin, rather than a myaccutron site, why not just a separate myaccutron space on this website? You could do the same for the odd clock we post too. Just an idea that may not require alot of work or expense.

I like the MyAccutron.com idea, as it may not be too tricky for Admin to set it up.  The hard part- where he will need lots of help - may be getting some folks to agree to jump in and "run it", so to speak.  This would also allow who ever "helps" some autonomy to make decisions which are best for Accutron- to decide on the stuff we have been discussing. Would there be a MyAccutron.com panel?  This could get pretty complex and time consuming.  Yikes!

as mentioned, the Accutron is primarily referred to by Series.

So we have three ads for this watch that are VERY close, if not an exact match.  They state Model "202".  We certainly could keep the "Railroad Approved" nick-name in the variant field after the model number. 

Thoughts?

Is this model actually the "226", as in this 1969 ad from the decades ad? Note the exact same dial, with the wording "Bulova Accutron" below 12, as opposed to "Accutron" on the "202".
