Correct ID supported by new ad found by bobbee Diamond Excellency "C" available in Yellow or White
"There has been a push to recognise a 17 Jewel 'EXCELLENCY' IMO this is incorrect for lack of a better word in a public forum The 'EXCELLENCY' series was the "best of the best", Bulova's finest and was not 17 Jewels."
It looks like another myth, opinion, or belief has again been cleared up with cold hard fact!...Great ad find bobbee!
That would depend on how one interprets the model name of 'Diamond Excellency' Greg.
Well, it is there in black and white.
At the top of the ad it says"BULOVA DIAMOND EXCELLENCY".
Then at the bottom, in the watch model description, as in any ad description, is the name of the watches, and their variant letters, i.e. DIAMOND EXCELLENCY "C", and DIAMOND EXCELLENCY"G". Now interpret that how you like, but it shot holes in the "17 jewels only" myth.
There could be "The Excellency Series" and "The Diamond Excellency Series". Two different names for two different groups? Unless we are assuming the latter is a subset of the former. The ad above states "The Diamond Excellency". After rereading some previous threads, no one has made any statement about jewel count in "The Diamond Excellency" or about the Diamond Excellency model variants "C" or "G". They are a new model as of this ad.

Looks like the "C" to me
...unless we have an ad on site which suggests this dial/case/jewel count could be confused with another model or variant (or other conflicting info like crystal specs, etc). Regardless, the name Diamond Excellency has to be added to the watch database dropdown menu (and ad menu) by Stephen - if warranted.
If warranted?...to me it looks like it is fact, just like not all Excellency's are 21J, and crystal info should be given more merit, which has been proven in this case.
In reply to If warranted?...to me it by OldTicker
I agree it's warranted. I'm just buying Stephen some time and giving him an out for a few days in case he's overwhelmed with all this... LOL. I also think the Diamond Excellency are a subset of the Excellency series....and the crystal specs for tentative ID worked great for this watch! Just took a while to get an ad.
I am certainly assuming that this model is a subset of the Excellency.
With the name "Excellency" as part of it's model name, one cannot do otherwise. It would be like saying the Jet Clipper and Golden Clipper are not part of the same Clipper family.
Diamond Excellency C
There is nothing to suggest the 'Diamond Excellency' is a part of the 'Excellency' Series.
"C"
Tart vine fruit comes to mind.
