Watch Description

35mm Stainless Steel Case.

*1967 appears to be the inaugural Year for the infamous Bulova Whale which I believe is a nod to the Sag Harbor Whaling tradition,  Sag Harbor being the location of the Bulova Watch factory.

I cannot find an exact match.  I would go with 1967 Bulova Sea King. Unknown variant.

1968 Sea King based on case date - no variant

EDIT: Better photo shows case date as 1966, not '68.

The watch case was manufactured before the watch movement.

In this instance the movement date code trumps the case, the significance being that We do not see the Bulova Whale on a dial prior to 1967.

This all assumes that the dial & movement are original to the case.

*The ABC case number catalog also confirms that the 11ALC is the correct movement for this case.

Ok let me rephrase that, "original to the subject watch". Whilst the movement is correct as you say for the case model, the 11ALC was also produced for a number of years so might not necessarily be the original one housed in this case, thus the date difference.

Technically the watch isn't incorrect, but it still begs the question of which date determines the year date for the purposes of our ID?

For that we decided a while ago that the case is the determining factor.

Having provided a second example image of the subject watch I would disagree with the assumption that the watch is not 'correct'.

I disagree with the case dating method.

If the site is attempting to document Bulova history both the case date and the movement date should be considered.
