Watch Description

IMO this is the 1936 Debutante. This one almost tricked me. The movement 3AN information says the dates werw 1932-1935 but the square date code on my movement says 1936.  7 jewels and looks identical to the 1935 Lady Bulova but when I checked the 1936 ads it matches the Debutante. Admin or other members, please correct me if I'm wrong. If not, Admin may wish to change the movement information to include the 1936 year. Being a nerd, you have no idea how much fun this site has been, searching up my little mysteries. Thanks all. Cheers.

Dear saskgirllovestofish, your watch is a 1936 Lady Bulova. It was first introduced in a newspaper campaign on 4 October 1934. It is one of the “Bulova Divas”, long running names in the likes of “Miss America” that went well into the ‘60s with various models but always the same name. Very beautiful.

I thought that at first also but I've searched and I could not find a 1936 Lady Bulova 1935. Also, the Debutante description and picture match mine. Year and 7 jewels.

This is one of those watches that often tricks us up with the ID and there are subtlle differences in the design. In this case the mounting around the diamond.

The Debutante has a diamond shape whereas the subject watch has a triangle, which as Alex says is a match for the Lady Bulova as shown here

1936 Lady Bulova

1936 Lady Bulova would be my call as well.

Great looking watch in really nice condition. Also great to hear that you are enjoying the site. There's so much here to explore.

Those are ads for the 1935 lady bulova. My date code is 1936

I agree the diamonds are set in the triangle shape like the lady bulova but I can't find an ad nor any other post about that watch in 1936. I definately wasn't sure about the debutante but since I couldn't find a matching ad for the lady bulova model does that mean that it was carried forward but not advertised?

That is correct. Or alternatively, it was advertised but we didn’t find an ad yet. In any case, popular models like the “Bulova Divas” as I call them ran for several years until the model, not the name, was replaced in line with the latest fashion.

The Debutante ad says the case is RGP where as the Lady Bulova ad says the case is Gold Filled.
