Watch Description

1950 Bulova Stanton (possibly)

L0 date code

SN 4201387

17 jewel 10BM movement

A9 date code

original bracelet in EXCELLENT condition. If you were to see it after I cleaned it and told you it was NOS, you’d believe it.

I believe this to be the Stanton. It looks just like the Standish but the Standish has engraving on the sides.

There is a good explanation of the difference between the Shoreham, Standish, and Stanton in the discussion of the other 1950 Stanton in the DB.

The newest linebook entry isn’t for a Bulova Standish. It’s for the Westfield Standish.

The Westfield Standish also has a 7j movement vs a 17j which falls in line with the Westfield line being an economy line.

I have no doubt that this is a factory model but I have been unable to find an ad match to this case and jewel count from Bulova.  Additional Standish is a Westfield name and jewel count does not match.   Unknown would be a better ID until something comes up.

Why unknown? We have the G-S crystal showing the Shorham, Stanton, and Standish all taking the same crystal. We have 3 models of the same form factor all with the same crystal. The Shorham and Stanton have been properly identified. It’s a reasonable conclusion that this is the Standish. That’s the conclusion that was reached 15 months ago.

Please explain how this makes sense. The Stanton is engraved on the sides as the line book shows. The subject watch isn’t engraved at all. It’s not a match.

Is it engraved?

I've looked the image over several times and it is difficult to determine, also the wording of the description makes no mention of engraving.

If so, from what I see the engraving would then run into the bezel valleys before the lugs begin, which would be a bit odd imo. With there being no mention of case engraving in the line book description think it's an optical illusion.

I could be wrong.
