Watch Description

N9 Bulova 12095 (stamped inside case back and matches what I've found on-line aside from a few discrepancies, which I'll get to).  11AOACD movement with N7 date stamp (which seems to be the norm with these).  Original bracelet, appropriate cyclops on crystal.

My issues are:

  1. All of the other 12095s I've seen seem to have black bezel text - mine has blue
  2. None of the others have a red-tailed seconds hand (but actual hands are the same)
  3. Some have 11AOACB movements (which are supposed to be day / date), however they only have date like mine
  4. None of the others I've seen have the bump / stud at 45 on the bezel - it seems to be a permanent fixture to the bezel (I can't pry it off).

Has this been modified (if so, for what purpose would you assume)? Or is it somehow original for a specific market?

Front with black tapisserie dial, blue bezel font, cyclops and red-tailed seconds hand.

Our expertise on Bulova ends at 1980 so this one falls right where we really don't have much information on Bulova watches. We do not have any Bulova resources that shows this model. The serial number indicates that it was produced for what we generally refer to as the "international" market - either Europe OR the Pacific Rim. Regarding the movement, my guess is that the rotor was replaced on this movement and one from the 11AOACB was used. The 11AOACB was in fact a date and day movement.

I suggest we classify this watch as a 1979 Bulova International

To clarify, my movement is labeled 11AOACD, which is day only (correct for this watch).  Several other 12095s (and 12094s, which seem to be very similar aside from the case) that I have seen have movements labeled 11AOACB, which is supposed to be day / date, even though they feature day only...

I purchased this watch from Lancaster, UK - I'm not sure it's history prior.

Thanks!

1977 movement in a 1979 case. The design is really morphing into 80s and 90s.

I also have no idea what the brass looking nub is for at the 9 o'clock position.

A very generic ID would be for a Bulova International considering the case serial number format.
