1978 N8 Bulova Accutron Quartz. Swiss movement is a Stepping Motor Quartz (S.M.Q.) Series 242, model 2421.10 (with Hour, Minute, and Sweep Second)(no date/day/time zone). The movement model # is identified on the watch under the battery. Features Accuset resetting function (lbutton located at 4:00 position).
This is the base model 242, silver brushed texture dial, base metal bezel, signed stainless steel back with N8 stamp, black leather lizard strap - original, signed, leather strap, buckle, and springs; strap is falling apart and not usable. Case is in great shape; crystal is clean with minor scratches; movement works just fine.
There are currently no good adverts for this year and model to verify against. There are a few early-1979 newspaper ads found through google that show this watch costing $110.00, with matching description; see item B ( http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=INVOAAAAIBAJ&sjid=IkoDAAAAIBAJ&pg=2901%2C3972632 / http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=Qk5OAAAAIBAJ&sjid=KxQEAAAAIBAJ&pg=6810%2C3520798 / http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=y78wAAAAIBAJ&sjid=x1EDAAAAIBAJ&pg=2742%2C2479470 ).
Update Nov 2013: watch has found a new owner
I agree with Geoff, adverts has these listed as Accutron Quartz. Love the movement!
Button in the 3rd picture at the 4 o'clock position is the Accuset feature, 'a built-in miniture computer that lets you read just the sweep second hand to the precise second without stopping the movement'
