Watch Description

Stainless steel case with a stainless steel caseback. The black dial features the Bulova tuning-fork logo at 12 o'clock, with “BULOVA ACCUTRON” printed below. The dial has white baton-style hour markers and fine minute divisions around the outer track. Red accents are positioned at 12, 6, and 9 o'clock, giving the dial a distinctive instrument-panel or cockpit-instrument appearance. The day-date window is positioned at 3 o'clock. “T SWISS T” is printed at the bottom of the dial at 6 o'clock. On the case is stamped BULOVA STAINLESS STEEL PATENDED 1-696174 M9.  On the rear of the case is stamped SWISS, in a box 762 next to an arched box CB.

The watch is fitted with an unusual integrated stainless steel bracelet featuring distinctive three-prong, Y-shaped end links. The bracelet has a repeating stepped-link design, and the clasp is marked with stainless-steel markings. Only write 100% stainless steel. Have both  Logo Accutron and Bulova.

Old movement: stamped “BULOVA,” “Patented,” "SWISS", “2182.” and "M9" (1969)

New movement: stamped “BULOVA,” “U.S.A.,” and “2182.” and "N1" (1971)

History:

I bought it from a seller of old stock that had been stored in a warehouse in Japan. For some reason, when taking the photos, the seller omitted the SWISS 2182 M9 Movement and replaced it with a USA 2182 N1 Movement. Unfortunately, I was not able to ask for the original movement back.

What I mainly want to determine is the history of the steel bracelet. It has a rather unusual three-prong Y-shaped end-link design, featuring both the Accutron logo and an embossed Bulova marking. I really think the Y-shaped design looks very fitting with the tuning-fork concept.

As for the case and dial, I would like to find out the exact original color scheme of the day-date dial. At present, the day indication is black, while the date numerals are metallic.

I would also like to understand the actual design concept behind this watch. My impression is that it looks somewhat like an instrument mounted in an aircraft, such as a panel or cockpit clock, especially with the red aiming/sight-like center and the overall coordinated color scheme.

I suspect that some parts may not be original, but aesthetically, everything looks surprisingly well coordinated.

This is the basic 2182 n1 model, as it lacks the power-off function for the tuning fork, and only has two settings for the hour and date hands.

My 2182 N1 watch is running slow by about 10-30 minutes each day. I will have it serviced, including lubricating and repositioning the escape wheel. I'm currently unsure of the watch's condition; it's probably already had a battery replacement.

I've had no luck tracking down the bracelet on a linebook watch.

The watch movement has been serviced and is in good working order with an accuracy of within +-1-2 second/day. However, during the servicing, the white marker underneath was smudged.
l has been polished glass with Polywatch. I really hope this bracelet is genuine. I've found a few Y-shaped designs, but they are solid and do not have split.

Is Model #21451 a mass-produced model? All things considered, does my watch have any collectible value? My watchmaker seems to look down on Bulova Accutron :( Even though I explained that the Accutron is an American watch (the original inventor was Swiss, but his prototype was unstable; it required American industrial ingenuity to bring it into mass production, and the 2182 is the refined day-date version. Later on, there were even the 480Hz and the Omega 720Hz oil-filled index wheel movements)."

All Bulova watches were, for all intents and purposes, mass produced. The exception would be prototype models that were not sold retail. Your watch was produced for the consumer market. We can not express value or collectability.
